That's what They said

Considering the fact that 95 percent of the people who dreamed about something couldn't really realized it under any possible reasons such as:

  1. No motivation
  2. Never actually tried it
  3. Talk only zero action
  4. Impossible (Although personally Impossible is not my kind of word but hey, human does have their limit don't we are?)
  5. Hit the wall of faith
  6. Fear
  7. Real life obligation hinder the dream progression (I'm talking about family, money, partners)
Probably tons more which are more like excuses I should say. I seriously envy how one young football player realized his dream to be a football superstar by practicing since childhood then became the famous one once grew up. Envy my old friend who became a doctor now, exactly what he dreamed of during his childhood.

To be honest I really don't care whether any single one of you will ever realize you personal dream or not. However I tried to build my stairway to heaven, digging my way to find oasis in the middle of the dessert, walking through the path of nothingness in the search for light, as known as" Realizing my Personal Destiny"

From what I read in the book called "The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho" (A must read and very inspiring book) it stated that "To realize one's destiny is a person's only real obligation. And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."

Statement number 1: "To realize one's destiny is a person's only real obligation"  SPOT ON

However

Statement number 2: "And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."  BIG QUESTION MARK

Presumably universe is a big word that may include everything on it and in my case Human. First my family, yes they support me in every way they can to ensure that I become a successful person in the future, something that they can proud of. So far so good? let's put some what if situation in this situation. What IF what they can proud of is actually different from what I can proud of myself. Secondly my friends, you know how human loves to share stories about daily life, personal issues and tiny bits and bytes. However I just realized that when it came to stories sharing about dreams and goals *CLICK here comes the demoralizing sarcasm and jeer to ensure that I forgot about my dream and move on because it's IMPOSSIBLE. Example:

I said        : "I plan to retire by the age of 30 and starts my  own company"
They said : "No wayy you'll be too busy with your career and eventually continue to work your ass of  by that age cos you need to feed your family!"

I said        : "I want my red Ferrari!"
They said : "Japanese car suits you better"

I said        :"I want that blonde to be my gf!"
They said : "Dream on you Asian"

I said : "I want to get a perfect score on the exams!"
They said: "Firstly the subject is hard, secondly you are way too stupid"

I don't know whether this is just me or real world phenomena but human have the tendency to reject the possibilities of success from others just because they can't. Egoistic, self centric, sarcastic. Indonesian only maybe? maybe not. Is this the new trend, the exact opposite of the circle of successes called the "Circle of failures".

Hey no wonder why the failure rate was so high, no wonder why life was so boring and repetitive, no wonder major breakthrough was hard to find nowadays, no wonder suicide rate was so high in the world today. The dead of dreams, the main source of inspirations the pupil of motivations.

Negativity is the foundation we build. Stagnancy is the future we live on. Maybe our World is to cruel to live on anyway. -R-

Blackberry tech round up October 2009

All the assignments, quiz and work really drained up my time *sigh, this is my first post since like almost 2 months ago!

Anyway RIM (Research In Motion well known for its Blackberry products line) finally look after the minor population in the Computer society, "Apple Macintosh".

Blackberry Desktop Software

The new release of Blackbery Desktop Software bringing great relief to the communities (Blackberry Mac users). Seriously I've been using series of synchronizing tools to sync my blackberry to my Mac but none of them really worked flawlessly "I'm talking about you Missing Sync!" being a pay app but more like I'm paying for troubles than solving one. Luckily the official synchronizing tools from RIM is free of charge! oh boy!

Then I start to download the app from Blackberry website and try to give it a go. The downloaded file size is about 26.7 MB large.

And will took about 43.1 MB of spaces during the installation to my HDD.

After some quick installation process, I am ready to sync my BB for the first time using this app. Plug my phone, loading then some quick set up, my phone was detected correctly without any trouble whatsoever.

I really really really happy now! finally after year of troubles the day finally came! as everything being able to be sync perfectly from contacts, calendars, notes and tasks (never use my BB for music!). The desktop manager also provide us with the ability to upgrade your current installed software version on your BB. So I really recommend for anyone out there using BB and Mac try download this app to make some proper backup for all of your data in your BB :).

Blackberry Messenger 5.0 (BBM 5)

Remember when I wrote about the leaked version of BBM 5 where there are 50 percent chance that you will lose all of your BBM contacts? worries no more as RIM now release the official version of its messenger update.

I approach this with caution base on the fact that the possibilities of me losing all of my BBM contacts still imminent, I made some backups then start to download the updates from my BB. 3MB is quite a big stuff for a BB app and I'm expecting something really good from RIM. Apparently the result is YES, it's pack with huge features. Some of them I can name:
  • You can put pictures alongside your display name
  • More fancy emoticon
  • The ability to create groups and start conference (love this feature)
  • Remote backup and internal backup of your BBM contacts (Awesome!)
  • More efficient memory management (After install this my free application space went up to 27MB from previously around 12MB top!)
  • Barcode scan for groups (which I never been use yet)
So far it went alright for me with understandable slowdown if your groups start to pile up with text chat among members. All of my contacts still intact, the backup feature was brilliant, my BB had more space than ever! Overall the updates really please me up. Keep up the good work RIM!

Google Map for Blackberry

It's been out for sometimes, but yeah it saves me a couple of times when I'm lost so its really worth to mention. Basically Google map provide us with the GPS like service on mobile phone even if you dont have GPS on your phone or want to save your mobile battery as GPS really drain battery rather quickly. GPS also require the phone to lock into satellite which I reckon require some times. Google maps on the other hand using Javascript and DHTML technology and detect our location using Google database and cellphone tower. It might not be as accurate as GPS but hell, it works fine for me with point by point location and address searching event when I'm walk!

Windows Live Messenger Version 2.5.27

This update of the popular Windows Live Messenger from Microsoft really improves the overall experience of the Windows Live in BB. Main differences I experience:
  • New layout and easier navigation overall
  • Ease of status updates, personal message and display name
  • Ease of contact options choosing during chat. For example during my chatting session with one of my mate, I can choose the option of calling him, text him or open his facebook page from my chatting screen
  • Faster login, faster navigation, more stable connection overall (Sending and receive chat to the counterpart is faster, no more disconnection every 5 mins)
  • Multi chat and the ability to switch to different chat room (seriously handy)
Again fully recommended for download. Go to your blackberry homepage from your BB Browser NOW!

Yahoo Messenger 2.5.27

Recognize the same version number with Windows Live? YES this two instant messaging services almost identically provides the same features and services. YES I also knew that Windows contact and Yahoo contact now can be integrated into one messenger service. But call me old school I still like to have two different instant messaging service applications both on my notebook and my BB too handle different contacts and here we are. As I mentioned the features is almost identical but if you have the older version of mobile Yahoo Messenger then you should try to update yours.

Snow Leopard from the eyes of common users

The Overview

It's been a year since Apple announced their latest installment of the OS X Leopard namely "Snow Leopard" in WWDC (World Wide Developers Converence) and now its finally here the world most advance operating system at least that's what the advertisement said. Nevertheless, we never knew until we tried true? went to the Apple store and bought it day 3 after the initial release date.

Cost me about $AU 69 for the family pack which will allowed me to installed SL for five Macs (must be in the same household they said) It's bloody damn cheap! since the Leopard DVD I bought cost me $AU 129 for single user when I upgrade my OS from Tiger to Leopard. I am very excited yet worried at the same time because every major technological advancement has its own benefits as well as the downfall. Base from previous experience of OS upgrade (Tiger to Leopard) its been horrific. In Australia, September can be considered as hell for Uni student for one specific reason ASSIGNMENT. Yes my main assignment production tool is Office 08 however due to the fact that I use other tools as well for research where 80% of them is Windows base applications I need to use VMWare. In simplified manner VMWare must not fail me after the upgrade to SL.

The Process

Backup is essential, and I did everything necessary to ensure that I do have proper backup in case of upgrade failure. Of me go to Time Machine and backed everything up to my external 1 TB "briefcase". It is still not convincing enough for me to just give it go as some people already had some minor issues during the upgrading process such as blackscreen, external monitor not working where any of these issues has not been dealt by Apple until this time. Anxiety and Curiosity contradict each other here. And I thought "lets do some pilot testing!" fortunately one of my mate who shares the same curiosity level as me offered his MacBook to be my first Pilot test for Snow Leopard upgrade and I said" why not?" unboxing it, boot up the DVD double click it, user license agreement, choosing where to Install it and of we go. It took about 45 minutes for installation process about the same amount of time as an upgrade from Tiger to Leopard.

"Ding!" the system rebooting, input the password, proceed to the main desktop, a little welcoming video and its done! pretty simple I should said. I noticed that at first the system a little bit sluggish due to the fact that spotlight reindexing all of the files over again. After a minute or two, Voila! it worked like a charm and it is faster (especially when you search for file in the spotlight). After convinced enough, now its the time to Installed it in my own system.

System Specification

MacBook Pro 2.2
Processor Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz
RAM 4 GB DDR 2 667 GHz
HDD Hitachi Travelstar 320GB 7200RPM SATA

Process Number Two

It is a 3 years old system but still works perfectly fine without hassle and its pretty damn fast. Lets buff up this baby with the new Snow Leopard. Samey installation process BUT uh'oh somehow the system failed to install after 50 % of the installation progress. Try that again and still never finished the upgrade. Everything still works perfectly fine, my Leopard still intact but there is no sign of upgrade to Leopard. When I checked yes, it is still the same old Leopard. "Time googling around" I said. And yes I did found couple of people who actually has the same issue as me during the upgrade process to SL and its all on MacBook Pro! There are no official response nor solution from Apple but unofficially some solution has been found by the expert.

  1. Replacing the RAM with another RAM.
  2. Use an external DVD ROM or replace the Internal DVD ROM.
Thanks to my housemate, I can go with the simplest solution which is use the external DVD ROM. I give it a go, and everything went smoothly! apparently there are some minor incompatibility issue with the old superdrive but then again it works perfectly fine by using the external DVD ROM. Other known issue I read on Mac-forums.com is the black screen where you can't see anything on your screen but actually the system is running well without proper backlight! Grab your torch boys and girls!

The Differences

Before

After

Can anyone tell the differences? Its almost seriously look identical and it is! as Apple said that most of the improvement from the new Snow Leopard is under the hood so the cosmetically face lift interface rarely present. The under the hood improvement will definitely improves speed but mostly will not be graspable by common users. I am not gonna go through all the details from under the hood improvement as my eyes are common user eyes now (according to the title).

One of the key usability improvement is in the expose feature, it is somehow more viewable and pleasant to look. It is definitely helping me to look at my stack of opened applications and works. Same goes for stack who went from annoying into more usable features.

The new expose

The new stack

Some precious hard drive spaces also has been freed up from this installation. Leopard took about 10 Giga of hard drive spaces while snow leopard took about 4 Giga! quite a save there!

About the VMWare compatibilities issue that worries me so much, I tested it and rest assure VMWare version 2.0.5 runs perfectly smooth in Snow Leopard *fuh. Well it works but compare to before, the performance is a bit slower for my VM, I reckon VMWare will release new updates to deal with this issues. As long as I can do my assignments everything is consider as fine.

Vista on VMWare Fusion

Final Note

As Im only play around for about two hours while writing this note at the same time, I can't says more. Further founding will be inform through this sites. If someone still confuse whether to upgrade or not I thoroughly recommends to upgrade. It is faster, it saves your hard disk spaces, and more importantly it cost you almost none. Its your Mac best friend, and once again another brilliant job from Apple. *sigh and now I really need to upgrade my Mac to utilize the possibilities of 16GB of RAM! -R-

Indonesia Malaysia conflicts

VS

Brief History
1960-1966
Hot topic that everyone loves to talk about. Although the conflict had already begun since early 1960 in the era of President Sukarno. "Konfrontasi" is the term referring to the open conflict between Indonesia and Malaysia. The core problem that erupted the conflict was none other than territorial annexation in the island of Borneo (Kalimantan Indo term for the whole island) as the new federation of Malaysia was being established by the Great Britain. Three Great Britain territories located in the island of Borneo are Sabah, Brunei(Britain protectorate bull crap) and Sarawak whereas in South lays the province of Indonesia. Thus the unification of new federation of Malaysia backed by British is hardly opposed by President Sukarno as it may threatened the Independence of Indonesia, Sukarno consider Malaysia as the puppet of Great Britain. The conflict ends in 1966 with the signing of peace treaty and the formal acknowledgment of Malaysia federation.
Current Situation

2000 - Now
Tension raise again between both countries fueled by territorial dispute over the Ambalat block in the north coast of Kalimantan where Indonesia already lost several portion of the block with the lost of Sipadan and Ligitan islands which upsets most of Indonesian. The saga between Malaysia and Indonesia continues it bearish trend; not only territories, Malaysia also claims some of Indonesian cultural richness such as:
  • Reog Ponorogo ( traditional dance from Java)

Reog ponorogo dance

  • Rasa sayange song ( from Maluku Ambon)
  • Batik(textile styling from Java)
  • Wayang (traditional puppet from Java)
  • Pendet(traditional dance from Bali)
Although all of the self proclaimed heritage ownership by Malaysia has been heavily opposed by many Indonesian real action needs to be done swiftly or else Indonesia may lose their rights again. One noticeable action by the government is the implementation of Batik mark certification issued by Indonesia department of Industry to protect the originality as well as the quality of the Indonesian batik itself. Bloody well done I said!
Batik pattern from Jogja

Closing Point

As a native Indonesian, native Javanese who were born in Surabaya (to emphasize my Indonesian trait) I can't helped but sad and upset. Angry close to boiling point? well yes but not really because somehow in my point of view it's partly our fault as well as an Indonesian.

Why?
  • Its been like a habit to us (bad habit) to act reactively rather than proactively. Point proven in this case. All I'm saying is we had like a thousand or maybe a hundred thousand of unique heritage in Indonesia but we never really preserved what we had then we "overhypely" react over the lost of says one song which we Indonesian doesn't really know who wrote this song(rasa sayange).
  • Patriotic, seemingly never ending iterations of this words being spread around and use among Indonesian nowadays. Many claims to be so called the most patriotic person in Indo but what have they done? Nothing! we make a lot of noises, we always do but in practice? ZERO. want some real example? we always said bad things about Indonesian products, we never support it, we talk bad about it (Garuda airline, Bata shoes). We also laugh and said bad things when one of our original Nike jersey is made in Indonesia. Why?! I don't care whether anyone will agree with me on this but I seen fact.
In the end by saying patriotic, we should protect, preserve and cherish our national assets, by saying assets that includes our national products, our heritage, our people and our land. Spread all of Indonesian goodness to the world by acting like one. By being angry all the time and doing nothing or event provoke anarchism is just plain stupid and nowhere near patriotic at all. Therefore, as an Indonesian I encourage fellow Indonesian to fight for our rights, not by rage, not by words, but by action of wisdom. Brain over brawl.

Indonesia unite! let's make our country the best place to live!

Waiting game, Late success or major flop?

My continuation of existence since 23 years ago allowed me to view broad array of humanly issues (I knew I should took Psychology major). I never said Im an expert (me vs 60 years old gramps? tell me bout it) but the seemingly almost always unique personality for every human funnily can be sum up into one general segmentation called "human habits".

For this time around I will focusing on one of the human habit called Waiting.

I met several friends who likes to wait patiently for anything that they would really like or dream of to happen but simply won't because of this waiting game! Example,

"I took IT subject this semester as an elective and apparently its too hard, but I think I will wait until the end of semester and see whether I pass or not"

This kind of attitude irritates me so bad! seriously, if you think its hard and you know its an elective drop the course and find another one! why wait until the end of the semester? what if you failed?

Another kind of wait I thoroughly saw is waiting for the perfect timing thing. I personally agreed timing is everything. Swift action but bad timing apparently never produce good result. This kind of waiting game have been implemented rigorously in business and it works. What upset me though, this kind of waiting game somehow being made as an excuse for some people to stay in their comfort zone before deciding to make a progress in their life. Example,

"I will quit smoking pot after I finished my uni"

Last wait that I seen is the worst. It seriously fuel my rage and bother me that bad. People who likes to do this kind of waiting game got a serious issue. Symptoms such as complaining heavily about what happen in their life, stressed out so bad but they don't clearly explaining what and why they are stressing out, then they clearly did nothing to fix any of those problems are the major indicators for waiting game called fictional wait. Simply don't want to do anything that's what all about.

Does any of those criteria above somehow resemble yourselves?

I fully recommends everyone to stop waiting! make an action, make an impact in your life because after all you won't live forever. Opportunities only come once, you missed it you will regret it. Stagnancy in life is what you really must avoid. Once you wait you will wait forever.

Quick reminder, we always have a choice. By waiting you practically disregard all the option of life you can do. Hope everyone get my point here. -R-

Mid August Note: Human

Apparently we are in the middle of August 2009, two months plus after mid year which I reckon should sum up at the very minimum half of your life progress for 2009. Serious question;

How was it?

Good to greatness?

Lame going worst?

Awesome as usual?

Some of you might yelled at me regarding this type of rhetorical question. Why all of a sudden I jump into that sort of question about life progress in 2009?
because You know, I know, We know; Resolution is what we made years after year of our life. Funny thing about resolution is we tend to forget about it especially in the middle of year like now. We heavily dedicated ourselves to achieve what we want to achieve for this particular year at the very beginning, forgo anything in the middle, then starts to mumbling and stressed out at the end of the year because of unaccomplished or low accomplishment of goals. This is so normal, as normal as humanly as possible. I will categorize this type of human as "Under-Achiever".

Easier to said than done, easier to plan that act hey?

In reality, not every single human do have that kind of behavior I mentioned above. I seen a lot of people who plans heaps of things and actually did tried to finish every single things they planned. Although not everything they planned is actually came to reality, they achieve the most of it. They cherish every single achievement they made and learned why they failed to achieve several other plan. I should say well done to the humble reader who did that. I will call this type human as "Hard-Worker".

People might or might not did what they planned to do. People might be lazy, people might not have enough time, People might have other unplanned activity that must be done or people simply just don't want to do it and another gazillion reasons might fuel the unwillingness to finish plan. No book produce without writer; no effects exist without the causes; One simple reason I can come up with why people tend not to finish what they planned is because of the Unrealistic plan people planned to do at the very beginning. True? Extreme example:

I want to lose 20kg of weight in 3 days!
I want to buy Ferrari by working part time!

I never said its impossible (Impossible is nothing! tee-hee) but seriously guys, that will be HARD AS HELL!. I will categorize this type of human as "Day-Dreamer". Simple note though, if someone actually really really keen to do one of their impossible plan I honor them with the title "Impossibler" for all the human who wants to achieve the impossible ( I made that word up).

Fourth kind of human I notice is the one who actually did nothing and achieve nothing because they plan nothing at the very beginning. This kind of human well in some part I could said Idealistic because they stick to what they are but not in a good way. Seriously people you should avoid this type of human at all cost. They do exist in the planet earth, and beware they will infect you like a zombie eating brain. Can you imagine if every human are actually like this? Epic fail. No will no glory, I will entitle this type of human as "Loser".

One last human category, very rare breed, one in every ten million. Almost the same as loser, but actually achieve a lot in their life. They never planned to achieve something big let alone work hard for it. They just simply destined to be big, and big is the only path they know. Simple example, People who won one billion dollar lottery by finding winning lottery ticket in the thrash bin. This type of human is what I hate the most. I will categorize this type of human as "Lucky - Bastard".

Which one are you? -R-

Refreshment from the Tech department

Hello Folks,

It's been a while since I wrote stuff because of the installation process of a new HDD to my MacBook Pro. Been quite happy with the result so far. With the new Hitachi TravelStar 7k320 320 gb, 7200RPM 16MB cache memory practically I've got almost zero loading time. I fully boot OS X Leopard in less than 5 seconds, fully boot Windows Vista home premium sp1 in 7 seconds or less through my boot camp. With the spaces three times bigger than the original HDD (320GB vs 120GB) finally I had rooms to breath. To utilize that, I allocated 60GB for Windows Vista, the rest for my beloved OS X leopard with VmWare Fusion* installed. Time to experimenting with all the latest operating system currently available right now.

*For those who don't know, VmWare use for running Operating System in the virtualization environment; Virtualization itself means it executes application like it was in the real machine but actually its not.

First victim, Windows 7.

Although its still on the RC version( Release Candidate) this latest iteration of Windows post Bill Gates era already drawn a lot of praise from the IT community normally regarded as "Vista done right". With Vista barely improving through all the latest updates, public opinion regarding Windows Vista already sinking deep down in the negativity point.

I personally thought that Vista was a very good OS really a major improvement from Windows XP. From Direct X 10, new interface, bit locker encryption and mirror backup function to name some of the features. Its good IF you have the computing resources to run it. Indeed I couldn't agree more that Vista is really a resource hungry OS. I reckon minimum of 2GB of ram and core duo processor then Vista can run normally. With normal i meant light use such as using word processor. If you plan to use for HD video encoding or gaming, additional computing resources may needed.

Thus as a regular user of Windows especially XP and Vista I would like too see how well Windows 7 perform compare to the older Windows version. Lets begin!

For the testing purpose I will use MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Core 2 duo, 4GB 667MHz DDR2 RAM 320GB HDD 7200RPM. The VmWare is set to run only on 1 CPU with 1GB RAM HDD spaces 20 GB. Installation CD will be using PC Authority Windows 7 RC version free CD.

Installation

Straight forward as usual, Insert the CD while
VmWare Automatically detects the content of the CD. As Windows 7 is not official yet, Vm detect it as Windows Vista installation CD which still fine just a matter of renaming it. From there the installation process given you the option to choose which version of Windows 7 would you like to install. Of course I'll go for the Ultimate version the most complete version of Windows 7.

Then normal protocol as usual while the file is being copied from the installation
cd's to the HDD. Somehow the installation process resemble Windows Vista installation.

It took about 10 minutes to completely copied all the installation files which is quite fast then it proceeds to updates. I somehow likes the updates screen.

Finalizing the installation it welcome me with a quite unique welcome screen then into the home view. Easy breezy and fast!

Interface

As you can see the interface somehow Vista look-alike with the addition of taskbar positioned in the bottom of the screen next to the start icon which I'm pretty sure its look and work exactly the same like Dock from OS X. The ultimate version includes several themes to choose from. Great thing about that its not about changing the display, it also changes the sound; the music and some icon. There are some issues with my virtual machine setting though, I somehow couldn't run the aero function let alone test it due to graphic card problem. Will try to fix that later on.
The taskbar also provides a mean of notification by flashing the icon. Gadgets which firstly introduce in Vista has an improvement as well; they can be move anywhere you like across the screen where previously it is just only a static sidebar.

By right clicking the mouse in the icon on the taskbar, it reveals the information recently use for that particular icon. In my example I use windows media player to reveal the playlist I recently played.

New windows update interface now clearly defines what updates are important or just optional. It is also gave clearer explanation about what updates are we going to install.

Performance

I couldn't manage to officially benchmark the performance in comparison to Vista, however through the minimum setting I set on the virtual machine as I stated before; Windows 7 ran extremely well almost without hassle. Although running video while opening several different application at the same time produce a little bit lagging in the process. Overall the performance was good.

Important Features

  • XP Mode
In simple manner, it virtualize/ simulate the legacy environment of Windows XP on Windows 7. It came as two parts add on and you can download it for free in the Microsoft website. This add on will provide us with fully legitimate XP service pack 3 to run as a virtual machine. However this add require us to have a processor's that support virtualisation and my core 2 duo processor is not on the list (how sad).

  • Optional security
Remember UAC? (User Account Control) yes the borderline annoying security first introduce in Vista. On Vista you either disable it completely but risky or annoy you completely but more secure. This time around you can set the scale on how the UAC will be put into action.

Notes

That's about some of the new exciting features of Windows 7 that I found useful. Although there are a couple more or should I say heaps the limitation of hardware and computing resources due to the virtual machine environment and the OS release candidate version it can't be run properly and fully reviewed. For the latest and exciting news about Windows 7 I will update it here. Check out soon! -R-

At the very least, Windows 7 truly shows some promises and excitement compare to the previous iteration of Windows (Vista). The fact that Apple will release its latest iteration of OS X in September code name "Snow Leopard" truly will challenge the very existence of Microsoft OS as the industrial standard. Not only that, the growing usage of open source OS such as Linux base system and the latest Chrome OS from Google really push Microsoft to up their game in order to compete in the tough market. Community disappointed byWindows ME Microsoft answer it Windows XP, now Windows Vista really let us down will Windows 7 be the answer? or new history are on the making as Microsoft crumbles. -R-

Jakarta and The Motorcyclist

Introduction

No offense here..

Just being honest..

Majority pictures a thousand words. Minority, a singer without a voice.

but really,

I HATE MOTORCYCLE RIDERS IN JAKARTA!

Issues

Facts:
  • Lack of disciplines
Seriously, not stopping when traffic lights turn red. Drove in the opposite way although it's clearly signed as one way road. Random U-Turn. Travelling without helmet. No lights in the nighttime.
  • God like behavior
God make no mistakes, God decides who is right who is wrong. Same goes for the motorcyclist in Jakarta. Collision with your car? never hope that the motorcyclist will said a simple sorry word to you. Driving in the wrong lane? "who cares". Not wearing a helmet? " I'm invisible".
  • Extreme increase in the motorcycles number on the road with 3.5 million currently active in Jakarta (300 percent growth in 4 years!) while the road only grew by 10 percent.
This one is a real serious issue that the new elected president SBY should address first. Because at this rate by 2014 Jakarta traffic will be dead. Probably its like driving 10 hours from Pondok Indah to Fatmawati while normally it took us about 30 minutes max.

  • According to some data from the Jakarta police official, 88 percent of the accidents in Jakarta which numbers around 3500 accidents involved motorcyclists last year alone (Jakarta Post, 2009).
With the major motorcycle dealer only focusing on the increase of the sales from their product with cheap price and easy financing it only worsened the condition. Where is the social responsibilities? where is the safety promotion in their ads? Loud applause to our motorcycle dealers!!!!! NO WONDERS ACCIDENT ALWAYS OCCURRED!!
  • Motorcycle sucks, so does all the parents who bought it
This one is crazy, Where else on earth you can find 9 years old kid driving around motorcycle as fast as hell without helmet? Jakarta! Where the hell is their bloody parents? what did those kids parents are teaching them? Are they really care about their kids? for god sake. Oh well, people only learn when shit happens.
  • Criminals prefer motorcycle to car to execute criminal acts.
RX king is everyone favorites for pickpocketing!.

So called irresponsible parents
Major concerns

As the price of oil and cars are in the extreme hike, major financial crisis are still lurking us. Motorcycle is actually a better solution for majority of Indonesian instead of broken public transport system. Motorcycle is cheap, reliable, easy to drive around and taken far less road spaces compare to other motor vehicles.

However proper education and strict law should be in place first to walk along the growth of motorcycle which sadly is far from the truth. Bribing a police is common practice therefore driving around in Jakarta is like driving in the jungle, no right and wrong no law only the strongest win. (political connection?)

Driving license system in Indonesia is really need a major rebuilt. As anyone with guts only basically can drive around in Jakarta. And people can apply their driving license just simply by paying the officials.

I know that motorcycle sales contributes greatly to the income tax money in Indonesia but should the government traded the traffic condition with tax income? I don't think so.

Somehow I foreseen that motorcycle is being used as a tool for the low income people to express their feelings that road is belong to them as well not for the rich only. "fuck cars, I'm faster I can do anything I want with my motor". Although its not always the case, many do so. Again proper education should be in place.

Although I said much of bad things, the good things is there for example it gives a lot of people steady income. From the Ojek driver to the factory workers who assemble the bikes. What about the sales team and the mechanics? I support every legal way of making money and this is no different.

In the end,

PLEASE READ MY WRITING AND HAVE A DEEP THOUGHT ESPECIALLY ALL THE PEOPLE I MENTIONED ABOVE.

Am I right? am I wrong? hate me? love me? who cares. -R-

Internet for everyone

Introduction

Hey fellas, its been a while since I wrote my last boring gibberish, just got back home from ultra fun H-O-L-I-D-A-Y in China booyah! I found that China is a very pleasant place to find a bargain in any sense you can imagine but in this section I will focusing on the electronic one. My Dad has been asking me like gazilion times to make the Internet available for everyone in my house however its like the combination of pure laziness(sorry dad) and limitation of budget and technology. But I vowed to myself and to My dad that I will try to find all the equipment needed to set up full blown wireless Internet system in my house.

Problem

Okay some of you might consider me as stupid or exaggerating things because everyone knows that wireless router is the only things I need. Well normally yeah, but my house is stupidly maze like, really thick wall and wooden door. As the result of that, event the fastest furthest wireless router I recently just bought the Buffalo Wireless N (Nfiniti High Power) can only reach my room which is only one room away from the server room.

Buffalo Nfiniti

Solution

Then came out one possible solution. " I need a repeater" I said. Little description about repeater: " A repeater is an electronic device that receives a signal and retransmits it at a higher level/ power or onto the other side of an obstruction so that the signal can cover longer distances.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Repeater)" in a simple manner, repeater is a wireless range extender in this sense to expand the range of the wireless Internet router I had. Moving from there I found two repeater that was being recommended by the networking store here in China. One is linksys Wre 54 G the other is Asus WL - 330ge. Since I don't know which one is better I decided to bought two, one of each.

Installation

WL-330ge

Asus WL- 330ge

After went back home to Jakarta, I installed both of them in two different section of my house. The WL -330ge from Asus is somehow more complicated to installed due to the fact that this model actually do have several other features such as router, access point and repeater itself. With that I need to set up the device by log in into the root system and choose the repeater option then input all the necessary credentials to allow the device to communicate with my installed wireless router. The range is somehow oh-kay but should be better. I reckon the Asus model traded range for portability as the dimension is really small and can be move around with ease.

Wre 54 G

Linksys WRe 54 g

This model from Linksys is pure repeater model. That means this model only have one single function, repeater (D'OH). The lack of feature from this model doesn't necessarily mean that its bad, in a matter of fact this repeater model perform adequately well. The installation was really really simple just plug the power cord, wait for 5 seconds and voila it works!!. The range is somehow farther compare to the Asus one because of the external antena that the model provides.

Conclusion

Finally after the installation of this two devices, my house is somehow covered by the range of wireless Internet setup my dad's dreaming of. No major decline in the speed as well although my router is a wireless N model and all two repeaters I installed are still on the old G model. For those of you who wants to extend their wireless coverage you can use either repeater model I stated, but if you want more range I recommend Linksys as it provide a further range. But if you want fully features model or want to set up some hotspot you should use the Asus. Cheers fellas! -R-

Life and Relationship

Well I found this writing very pleasant to read and made me rethink my strategy in my relationship and life.

Read this well and decide whether you would agree with me or not :)

Things that you should know in love and life .....

Seeing your partner through the lens of love rather than fear automatically elevates the relationship to a higher plane. When you can get quiet and note when you are projecting fear, you can make the adjustment to see through a different filter. So often we feel indignant or incensed, but upon closer inspection we will find that we are really afraid. Once we assume our partner's core goodness rather than focusing on their "guilt," they will be more free to show us their best, which accelerates the process of shifting our perspective from one of blame and anxiety to one of acceptance and peace.

Being willing to forgive yourself and your partner, and to make amends when necessary is an ongoing process of cleanup. We all make mistakes; it's human. But when we hold fast to a grudge it eats away at our sense of peace and serenity. If you aren't willing to forgive, you might ask yourself what habit of ego you're attached to. Do you want to continue life with unresolved issues hanging over you?

When we take a stand and refuse to let go of something, we can always find evidence to justify it. Or we can try to make peace. Instead of blaming or making excuses, we can clean things up and move forward. This is not an excuse for staying in a dysfunctional situation, but an opportunity to see innocence. Once we do that, we gain—or give—freedom to move out of a "stuck" place.

Relaxing when times get tough; assuming that "this too shall pass" allows you to roll with the punches. If you know things will inevitably arise to challenge you, you can be more detached when they do. Problems become worse when we dig in our heels and try to force a solution. By relaxing into whatever struggle arises, we remain flexible and open to inspiration and insight.

Even if you have a hard time letting go, you can at least observe yourself taking things very seriously, which in itself helps to detach you from the experience of anxiety. Whatever is happening now won't be happening a year from now, so just keep breathing through the situation and see if you can take things a little less seriously.

Seeing in the dynamic of the relationship the reflection of what you need to learnhelps bring you back to what is important. Sometimes we get lost in the chatter of day-to-day patterns and lose sight of the soul's mandate to bring us closer to realizing our Oneness. The best way to see where we need to work on things is to observe who we are and what we do within the context of a relationship. Any time you recognize your impulse to create distance rather than intimacy, you can make the adjustment and get back on track.

This relationship, as with all relationships, is part of a curriculum to evolve into our highest potential. We come to know ourselves by how we interact with our partner, and by so doing we come to know Spirit.

When you don't know how to handle a problem, pray and meditate, surrendering the decisions to Spirit

Praying and meditating aligns your limited energy with that which is all-powerful. Of course we don’t have all the answers, but by consigning our limitations to our Higher Power, our burden is lifted. We need to be accountable for our words and actions and be willing to work through where we are stuck. We need to stay present and forgive. Beyond that, our creative power is fueled by Spirit. By praying, we ask for help and guidance; by meditating we clear our minds so that the answer will become apparent. By moving aside, we create an opening for God to work miracles in ways we could never imagine.

Honoring your partner's path and allow them the space to find their own way sends a clear message of respect. People need to work things out in their own manner and in their own time. If you try to help where help is not requested, you are signaling your lack of belief in your partner. If you back off and assume someone is strong and intelligent, strength and intelligence are what they will likely find.

Although we are all on this path of realization and expansion together, each of us is unique in our lessons to be learned; the way you do something might be totally different than how someone else needs to process a situation. Rest assured that Spirit is at work in all of our lives, and give yourself a rest from overseeing your partner's personal business.

Keeping up your personal growth work means you will keep your mind sharp and your awareness keen. Read, study, and attend lectures; don't rest on the laurels of what you think you already know. The moment we think we have it all figured out is the moment things will come crashing down around us. Arrogance leaves no room for intimacy or growth, and is certainly not part of a spiritual curriculum. When you immerse yourself in learning, you will always have new skills and interests to apply to a relationship, and thus the relationship will always feel fresh and relevant.

Following the path of your own creativity keeps you attuned to that which moves and inspires you. As you indulge your creative side, you become less dependent on your partner to feel whole. Creative energy is the force that breaks new ground. To sustain love, we need to continually fuel whatever inspires us on the deepest level. Also, creativity balances out the ego and intellectual side of life; it teaches us to play and have fun. When we engage our passions, we radiate passionate energy and thus maintain the interest of our partner as well as having your own sense of fulfillment.

Staying present keeps us in the moment which is where life is. Life does not exist in future predictions or past grievances; all we have for sure is right here and right now. Every moment teaches us something, and if we are busily trying to change or control something we miss the grace intended for us.

By allowing the sacred mystery to unfold without trying to tamper with it, we can move through anything with much more ease and simplicity. As we cease resisting, any so-called negative situation or emotion will have the space to work out. And by the same token, when we are completely alert and aware in any given moment, we are open to the subtle miracles happening all around us. By staying present, we will see our partner for who they are; we will hear clearly their communication and respond to it astutely.

Being grateful for what you have zeros in on what is working, which in turn magnetizes more of the same. Where you put your focus is where you direct your creative intention; so if you want abundance, be grateful for the vitality you have now. If you want a soulful relationship, be grateful for the soulful moments. Gratitude is like a seed you plant; it grows more as it is watered and nourished. Show your partner what you appreciate in them and let them know that they have a positive effect in your life. The acknowledgement of good will call forth more of the same.
